Weekend Pictures!

This is a groundhog that we spotted while geocaching.

One of the lovely streams inside Pennyrile Park.

Here is the dam in the park.

One of the caves at the park.

A deer we jumped up while walking on the park trails.

It's Back.....Sorta.

Yesterday we got Needles truck back. After almost a month in the shop. When she got home we turned around and went back to town to pick up my Jeep. When we got to town we went out to eat. I did notice a different noise to the truck but didn't really notice it too much until I shifted into Park. I did notice a rattling noise coming from under the truck. Soooooo to make a long story short the truck is going back to the shop to fix a dust shroud that wasn't tightened down. The main difference here is Needles is going to stay at the shop until it is finished. I hope she doesn't have to take a sleeping bag. I guess May isn't over yet.

Back from the weekend.

It was a warm muggy weekend. Next to my parent camp site where was a motion activated flamingo that sang a couple of songs one which could have been the theme song to this weekends camping expedition. Feelin Hot Hot Hot! Yes we knew it was going to be hot but when you have reservations for 4 months you just go along with what you get. We arrived Friday around 2:30pm and set up camp after we had sandwiches with my parents. We then got to the task at hand and set up camp. After we got everything set up we lounged by the camp fire and relaxed after a more than stressful start to Friday. The weekend was nice to visit with family, fill our bellys and getting out of town and away from things. Today we had to come home in preparation form the work week ahead. The weekend went by too quickly......like they always seem to.

I think I am going to jail.

I just received word from Needles on the truck. They told us 3 hrs work and its ready. This was yesterday. Today they say it still is not done. Maybe tomorrow morning. I swear I am close to a melt down. This large name transmission company that when you think getting your transmission fix they are the first ones you think of isn't worth piss. Today has been 3 weeks and all I can say is. This is idiotic! I hope the weekend goes well. We have already made plans to borrow my brothers truck since the dumbasses are jerking us around. I have just about had it.

Much better mood.

I am in a much better mood today than this time last week. As you might have read in previous blogs that last week my boss was in sunny Florida on vacation. It was a nightmare. We had several hurdles that popped up in front of us over the week and all say one was jumped with room to spare. The say one was a hundred foot tall and even with a rope and ten other guys we weren't getting over that one. This incident had to involve Dr.s. One of our Radiologist left last week to a new job and the 2 remaining Radiologists couldn't handle the load. It all came to a head Friday night when a emergency room patient needed a reading on a study at 3 am in the morning. Lets just say that tempers flared and fits were thrown. It hard to believe we are talking about grown men much less Dr.s.
I just got a call from Needles. I was hoping that since she didn't call at 4:30pm that she was on her way home with the truck. No such luck. So now they are telling us possible tomorrow. It's like that song .....It seems it's always a day away. Tomorrow they will have had the truck for 18 days and it is still not done. When Needle drove by this evening it wasn't even up on the lift like they were working on it. Sweet Mary and Baby Jebus. Please let them get this truck done before I become a Dr.

A Nice Weekend.

Here is a picture of all the give aways for the Event.

Even though Needles was gone for the weekend to indulge her addiction for fiber and spinning, it was a nice weekend. Yesterday Rudy, Brando, Yen, Yuri and I went to a geocaching event. It was well organized. They had deep fried turkey, hamburgers, hotdogs, brauts and all the fixins. There was live music and activities for the kids. Face painting, sidewalk chalk drawing and a pinyata for them to beat the living daylight out of. There were lots of items that were given away as door prizes. I got a Garmin hat and a IL. geocoin. Everyone ended up with something. Needles just called and she is on the way home from er weekend. I am getting caught up on laundry and mentally preparing for the week ahead. At least this will be a shortened week for me since we are camping this weekend and I am taking off Fri. It looks like they have taken the rain and thunderstorms out of the forecast but the temperature doesn't look like it going to be very pleasant. They are giving sunny and around 90. I hope the temp drops at least 5 to 10 degrees so that it's not a steam bath of a weekend. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Back to laundry.

This F@CKIN DAY SUCKS!

Well as you can tell by the title what kind of day it has been. The day was overall butt - @ss crazy. It was very hectic and I felt like I was running in circles getting nothing done. At 1pm I got a call from Needles telling me that she hadn't received that call from the transmission people like they said they would. So I got to call them and do some butt chewing and by the time I got off the phone I was so mad I was almost shaking. They people on the phone was pleasant enough but they have had the truck 2 weeks tomorrow and not a thing has been done. They assured Needles that they were ordering parts tomorrow and that they were going to try and I do mean this in every since of the word TRY to have it done Friday at closing time. I am not holding my breath. The estimate bill for a rebuilt transmission $1600 and change. And the hits just keep on coming. When we got home Needles found out that the retirement statement she is trying to get rolled over didn't get sent to the retirement plan it was supposed to be sent to. It got mailed to us but they kept the envelope that had the address to send it to the place it needs to get to. DUMB @SSES! I also received an email response from my continuing education credit that I have been waiting for for 12 days and hotmails new and improved email service blocked the DA%M attachment so I get to email them again and wait and try to have it sent AGAIN!!!!!UUUGGHHHHHHH! This has been a dell of a hay! I am ready for May to be over with because it has sucked @ss so far. I just wish that people did there freakin job instead of half @ssing everything and requiring you to hand hold them with a kick to the back side to get stuff done. Everything and I mean everything is over complicated a it's like pulling teeth to get things done right the first time.

In case you couldn't tell this is a vent post. I will now go beat my head again a wall. What am I in the mood for today. Drywall, paneling or concrete block. I think the concrete might give me the desired effect I want......To be unconscious.

Another Monday.

Today was another Monday. Since my boss was gone the department seems to be running as smooth as a pig on stilts. The reports that I usually have done within the first 30 minutes of work got done about 5 hours later than usual. It seemed at time the paperwork kept pileing up and I couldn't make any progress. I finally got out from under it and was able to get out of there about an hour after I was supposed to leave. I hope tomorrow will go smotther but I am afrraid this whole week will be nothing but a bunch of Mondays. Oh Well, One down 4 to go.

Happy Mothers Day!

Today is Mothers Day and I want to dedicate this post to my Mom, the best Mom in the world. I say this because she was blessed with 2 bouncing baby boys not just one. Some parent get a little overwhelmed with just one child but my mom had both of us and had to deal with us at the same time. I am not saying we were bad kids just a little challenging at times. When we were young my parents didn't make a lot of money so I am sure they had to make sacrifices just to make ends meet. She would rock us to sleep and just about the time we were both asleep one of us would wake up crying and wake the other one up. I think my brother any I got along fine up until about the age of 5 or 6 and then it was all out war. We fought non-stop up until high school where it became less frequent due to social lives and work. I think this put a lot of stress on Mom and I have to give her a lot of credit for not ending up in an insane asylum. Sorry Mom. She knew when to crowd us and when to back off ,even though we thought the times she was crowding us was the time she needed to back off. She knew better. When we were young and at home she was the one that kept up with everything from where our socks were to keeping us with school activities and homework that we didn't want to do. I am not saying that our relationship was smooth sailing all the time, quit the contrary. There was a time when I resented my Mom much like any young adult going through the teenage angst years but I am glad that our relationship was strong enough to survived and become what it has become today, a friendship. I have several friends that don't have a close relationship with their mother and it makes me sad and the thought of not having a loving, caring relationship with your Mother is too hard for me to comprehend. Now my Mother and I are a lot more like best friends than Mother and Son. Now we are adult enough to break down all the barriers that constrained our communications when it was a mother /child conversation. No subject is taboo. As adults we all have frustrations and faults and to be able talk about them, admit our mistakes and faults. Also to forgive each other and the ability to move on is what puts the relationship we have on a level playing field. Some people think their parents never say or do anything wrong but they really need to look a little closer before they make public comments or remarks. I am not saying my Mom is perfect but she is perfect enough for me. Happy Mothers Day Mom. I Love You Very Much.

Out and about.

Today Needles and I got our shower and of to the big city. We spent some time in a holistic store but Needles didn't find what she was wanting. We then went to the grocery store and got a few things. After we left there we went to Ophelia's Cup. Needles got the Great Big Gorgeous Salad and I got the Rockin Roast Beef Sandwich. I have to say it was pretty good. A warm roast beef sandwich with carmelized grilled onions and a cream cheese with a side of grapes and a slice of orange and kiwi. To drink we both had the house blend coffee and after I finished the sandwich I switched over to caramel sundae. Not bad but not my favorite flavor. We then decide to stop by Wally World and get a few things. On the way home I stopped off to fill up the gas tank and we rented a few movies. The first movie on the night was Aneon Flux and Mtv cartoon turned into a movie. It wasn't bad. The concept was somewhat original for when it came out. There has been movies since that had a similar premise but for it time it was unique. Charlees Theron has come along way back from Monster. The next movie was Nanny McPhee. It was a cute movie that Needles enjoyed. I thought it was Ok but lost interest in it shortly after it started. The last movie for the evening was King Kong. The special effect was neat and the camera shot gave a sense of motion at time that almost made you motion sick. The show was a little long at 3 hours. I think that several scenes ran a bit long. The movie could have easily been cut down to 2 to 3 1/2 hrs and not lost a thing. Tomorrow we are going down to Needles Mom for Mothers Day and then I got to got to got to mow our lawn. Rain or shine it will be mowed. Mark my words.

It's The Weekend!

Here is a picture of my early Birthday present from Needles.

It;s a Mossberg 835 12 guage shotgun with regular and rifled barrel.

Yes....Finally! It is the weekend. It s finally here. After a week of not sleeping very well at night I was ready to have a couple days off. My boss is leaving for Florida tomorrow for a week. I hope she has a good time but I just hope this next week goes smooth. After work today I went to Needles work and picked her up to go get my new shotgun. After that we went to eat Chinese. It was good and I ate toooo much. It is nice to finally be home on a way too cool and cloudy day. I wish the weekend would be better weather but it looks like more of the same. Happy Birthday Ragged. Have a great weekend.

Humpity Humpity Humpity.

Yes today was hump day. It was a rather nice day. Not too busy but busy enough to make the day seem to move along. This week has been hospital week and on Monday , my place of employment had flavored coffee and pastries in the cafeteria. Yesterday they had cake and ice cream and today a free cook out. They cooked the food outside on the grill and we had to eat inside on paper plates due to the rain. Tomorrow I think they are having a Who's who contest. We were supposed to bring a picture of ourselves from the 80's and submit them to the business office. They were going to assemble them into a game. Whoever guesses the most correctly wins something. As all the picture from the 80's are at my parent house in the promise land I choose not to submit a picture. It will be fun to see all the picture though and guess who is who. One of my co workers was born in 83 so I'm sure she could stump a few people. Friday they have something else planned but I am not sure what. We will have to wait and see.
It is pouring down rain right now. The TV picture has been breaking up into puzzle pieces for the past few minutes. Needles hasn't made it home yet but since I have been home I warmed up dinner. made a fresh gallon of sweet tea and a pot of coffee. Also started a load of dishes in the dish washer. I have been poductive since I have been home instead of plopping on the couch like most days. Energy fading and the couch is calling. I have such pour will power. Watch out couch here I come.

Trying to go South.

We have been out working in the yarn room today. Needles has been getting some things together to post on eBay. This evening we had a couple of our friends we haven't seen for a few months drop by and visit. It was nice to catch up and hopefully we can get together again before the summer is gone. Needles has been on a relentless job hunt. We are trying to go south. She did find a couple jobs that she is considering. If things work out we might and I mean might be able to get out of here and say good bye to the noisy neighbors. I have said to Needles since I quit the MRI job that if she finds a better job I would pack up and we would blow this popsicle stand. Hopefully the days are numbered and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Only time will tell.

Good Food, Good Conversation and a Thursday night.

This isn't a picture of Needles truck but close enough.
Notice thermometer out of the grill. Just be glad it isn't coming out of the tail pipe.

Today went well but not without bad news. Purple Truck is sick and in the truck hospital. It has a serious transmission leak with a bad torque converter and pump. We will know more tomorrow when they take truckie into surgery. The prognosis is that we will get truckie back at the earliest Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Poor Purple Truckie.....Get Well Soon.

The good part of the evening is that Jenny from the Blog visited us and was gracious to bring us Chinese food. Yummmm. This is just what the Doctor ordered even though it does nothing for the truck it make me and my belly feel better.

If You Can't Figure It Out...Get A Manual.

At my work today they had a book sale. I looked over the variety of books and other trinkets they had to sell. I like a singing pig for $12 but felt like I didn't need it. I did however find a book that caught my attention. We talked with Cynical and Ragged, last weekend about our attempt to curb some of Coppers unwanted bad habits. Well after seeing this book I thought it was fate. The purchase I made was Understanding Your Cat by Don Harper. I thought that there would be some secret insight to the inner working for the kitty brain and might offer a little tidbit of information and unlock how the mind of our problem child works. After looking over the book I found that it offers no new information. Water pistol and aluminum foil is the best suggestion at keeping the little one off the furniture. Oh Well the pictures of the cute little kittens inside was worth it.

A Working Sink.

The garbage disposals connected to the tail pipe. The tail pipe is connected to the P trap. The P trap is connected to the drain pipe. Now pray the thing don't leak. We now have a working kitchen sink, garbage disposal and dish washer. I am a plumbing genius. Well I guess I wouldn't go that far. When I was taking the drain pipe apart, my thoughts went to the Ghost Hunters. They are Roto Rooter employees by day and Ghost Hunters (TAPS) The Atlantic Paranormal Society by night. When they show them on the TV they are working on shower heads and water lines but they don't show the bad side of plumbing. The drain side is the dark side of the force. Ragged you may want to stop reading now. Residue food on the inside of pipes is nasty and doesn't smell like fresh cut flowers. After my small experience with the plumbing under the sink I can understand why plumbers get paid the big bucks. It was disgusting. The Ghost Hunter guys make it look so clean & easy. Kudos to the Roto Rooter guys you deserve it.
My parents are going home to the promise land tomorrow and won't be back for a couple months, but we will be going down for a camping excursion in Memorial Day weekend. I can't wait.
