Round 5 progress.

Needles finished her sock at 4:46 am Saturday morning. She posted her picture to Flikr and was the first of the final 8 to finish. The competition is still going with one race left. Stitchenwench, Needles aka (Knitter473) and Tekwagirl2001 have won their divisions. Yarniac and Siri are still at it.

Today we are celebrating Yin's B'day at a rollerskating rink in the next town over. In the invitation it said skate $1.25. Hee Hee like were gonna skate. Yeah the skates are $1.25 but the medical bills to follow are a bit steep. I remember the last time I skated......it was horrible. It usually took me several minutes to get the hang of it, I finally get it and skate the rest of the evening, but the last time the pain caused me to give it up before I got to that part. It was several days before I got back to normal.

I think it is about time for B'fast so TTFN and all that jazz.

Late Night with Needlefingers.

The Sock Madness Round 5 pattern was released today around 2:30pm our time. Needles finished her first sock around 11pm with several interruptions that slowed her a bit. She is currently working on the second sock and is clicking this one off a lot quicker.

Mom and Dad came up Thursday so evenings after work has been mostly spent with them. Today my father was singing an old nursery rhyme to my 3 year old niece, that has been an oldy but a goody for quite some time. It was Itsy Bitsy Spider but with my fathers twist. My father instead of Itsy came up with a different word that sounded similar. If you know my father this is no surprise. The word he came up with was Itchy which make the next word in the rhyme that would sound right would be Bitchy. So the rhyme went Itchy Bitchy Spider went up the water spout. My mother was telling us about this little faux-pa on my fathers part and I was about to pee my pants.

Tomorrow after we sleep late we are making plans to visit with my parents and venture out to the Old Settler's Days. They are held a our local 4 H center. We will be feasting on buffalo burgers and homemade root beer. Have a good weekend everyone.

Weekend is over...

We had a great weather weekend. Friday after work I mowed at Mom and Dad's. After that was the great shirt fiasco at the Trace. Yesterday Needles wanted to dye yarn so I help with her project. Last night we had a movie night. We watched the Abyss on the projector in the comfort of our own bed. I have to say that watching movies in the bed makes it easy to fall out dead asleep. We started the movie on Friday night and had to finish it up on Saturday night due to eyelids that weighed about a ton. Today we finished the dyed yarn project and went out to see the recent progress on Rudy's secret pond. Check out the pics here. I don't want to go to work tomorrow. I could just slap you down Cynical. Good night all.

Once a Twinky always a Twinky.

One day last week my brother and I tentatively made plans to eat out at the Trace Inn for our usual BBQ rib night. Today after I got home from mowing I received a call from Brando which was confirming our plans. Since Needles was a little late getting home from work I told them to go ahead and we would meet up with them at the restaurant. I took my time so as to try to meet up with Needles getting to the place. As I was pulling into the intersection in the park lo and behold there was Needles coming from the other direction. It was perfect timing. When we arrived and went inside I started looking for the rest of the gang as they were to have supposed to leave before us. They weren't there. We sat and waited just a few minutes and there they were. Brando, Yin, Yuri and Rudy wearing the exact same shirt as me. How embarrassing. I remember my Mother purchasing the shirt for us last Christmas and I have worn it a total of 4 or 5 times. Rudy said he has worn his once before. I wonder what were the odds of us wearing the same shirt? It use to irritate us when my mother would do this to us when we were young....Now we are doing it to ourselves.
Above is not a picture of us but I felt as conspicuous as these two.

Late Night Finish.

I wasn't going to post because I have been boycotting blogger starting last weekend but since Needles can't post because Blog-city is down, I thought I would post an update on current events. Needles started knitting Saturday at around 10am and finished first in the sweet sixteen. She posted her pic on flickr at 3:07am last night. Overall she finished in roughly 16 hours give or take a few minutes. This wasn't the fastest pair of socks she knitted but I was surprised she was able to still be fast even though the pattern was fidgety, she was shopping and travelling all while knitting the socks and the pattern had some issues by the comments of some of the other knitters. She barely beat out Sheepspyjamas by maybe a couple of hours. They were neck and neck in the progress shots.

All I have to say to Cynical ( Dave Ramsey Jr.) is I'm sorry. Little did you know that when Ragged opened the tube scarf that she knitted, life would never be the same after that. Needles unleashed her haul on me this morning. Looks like she had a good time.

We just got back from eating Chinese and doing some grocery shopping. It might be time for a nap since I was up with Needles late last night and only managed about 6hrs of sleep due to my right shoulder and neck aching again. Nothing a few days of rest won't fix.

BIG Weekend.

Needles and Ragged have set out our weekend plans. I was excited to learn that we were going to visit Ragged and Cynical this weekend. It seemed that this was the only weekend we had available for some time. I think we are going to have a cooler weather weekend so a lot of coffee drinking and movie watching is on the agenda. Also I think a stop by the Shogun might have to be made. I can't wait. I am giddy like it's Christmas morning.

We have had nothing but rain and storms since about 2:30pm. I am not sure how much rain we got but it is a lot. The roads were flooded coming home from work at 3pm and it has rained non stop since. Several times we have had lightening strike very close. I am glad I got the lawn mowed yesterday.

Several posts ago I believe I told about a co workers brothers girlfriend that had a terrible accident. She pulled out in front of a truck and was critically injured. The words brain death , intercranial pressure and coma was repeated frequently early on in the diagnosis and things didn't seem to improve much over the last couple of weeks. Last week the family was faced with a decision on her future. The choices were to place their daughter on long term life support or not. Last Thursday the decision was made for them when she suffered a massive stroke and her suffering is now over. Unfortunately the suffering of those left behind is ongoing. When someone so young looses his or her life it is a terrible tragedy but it seems there has been a glimmer of good to come from it. Through her tragedy, others might find a new life. I was told that she was an organ donor and that several of her organs were able to be used for transplant. I have to say that this young lady's story was heart wrenching and heroic. Please keep her friends and family in your thoughts as they come to grips with life without this remarkable young lady in their lives. God Speed "M".
