BONE HEAD AWARD GOES TO...

This 31 year old lawyer is Andrew Speaker. He is a carrier of Drug resistant TB and he is an idiot.
I can't think of any good words for this guy right now. The words I CAN think of is selfish, uncaring and idiotic. This guy knowingly could become a modern day Typhoid Mary and nothing I have read shows that he has any remorse for what he has done. Only that HE is O.K. and tells about the thousands of dollars that it takes to treat his illness. Oh and the really nice part is that his illness is fatal to 30% of people who contract drug resistant TB. If it wasn't bad enough that he flew from the U.S. to Europe....While in Europe he flew on several more flights just to make things worse. Then knowing he was on a Do Not Fly list to the U.S. he flew into Canada and drove into the U.S. People like this make me furious. All they think of is themselves and who cares about anyone else and their safety. If there is just one person that contracts this dreadful disease because this guy wanted to go on a honeymoon to Europe, then I believe that he should be brought up on charges. If his selfishness ends in killing someone then he should be brought up on man slaughter charges. I believe all medical costs incurred from this incident should be billed to this idiot. I guess he is not entirely to blame. The airlines and customs all failed to operate at the level inwhich our tax payers money is supposed to operate in the interest of national security.

Just when I think that I have seen it all in the category of bonehead things to do...Then something like this comes along and I am amazingly surprised that the bar has been raised yet again.

Hello Weekend. I am glad you are here.

This weekend we are relaxing and enjoying the time off. I am anyway Needles is hopefully on the up and up with a nasty Summer cold. She has been battling it since Monday but it didn't get bad until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Last night we watched Pan's Labyrinth. It is a really good movie but had some unexpected twists to it. This fairly tale type movie is NOT a movie for the kids or the faint of heart. The fairy tale imagery is very disturbing and the reality is more of the same set during a war, with all of it's violence and bloodshed. A unconventional ending in a movie with sub-titles and I have to say that this movie was up there with one of the great ones in it's conception and the visual effects were well done.

Today I received the rest of my Star Trek Ornaments. When I tallied up the ornaments prices they were originally sold for $100. My price was $26 with shipping included. I had a couple of ornament on ebay staked out and they were ending this morning. It would have been nice to be able to bid on them but our internets was down all morning. This isn't the first time our internet service has screwed me out of an auction.

I need to get out and mow the lawn but it is very humid and sticky out there and I may hold off until later this evening. Maybe the temperature and humidity will drop a bit. Yeah Right!

Monday we have plans to go down to Needles Mom's for a cook out. I am sure I will eat myself silly, usually do.

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Star Trek Score!

Over the last few days after a self imposed hiatus from ebay I have been looking over Xmas ornaments. Last year I got a steal on a 1991 original Enterprise Ornament that usually sells for around $150 to 200. I nabbed mine for less than half the price. I was looking over the list of ornaments and did my homework to see what they were going for and figure out what I was willing to pay. Including shipping I procured 7 Star Trek Ornaments I was wanting for around 10 bucks a piece. What a steal seeing how 2 of the ornaments go for around 35-50 bucks each. I received one of the ornaments today and the others will be here in the next couple of days. The list of the haul is as follows.

Hallmark Enterpise NCC-1701 E
Hallmark Voyager
Hallmark Enterprise NCC-1701 D
Hallmark Kirk in his captains chair
Hallmark Galileo shuttle craft
Hallmark Locutus of Borg
Unknown Ornament?

As far as the unknow ornament it was in with a bundle of 4 ornaments I purchased for $16.05.

I love ebay......Maybe a little too much.

I also purchased a 2003 Hallmark Basket of Joy ornament for Needles... It has knitting accessories in the basket. Go figure.

Is It Friday Yet?

I can't wait until Friday. The last couple of days have been some what busy and stressful. I can't say that it has been especially busy but it seems when my boss is gone everything takes about 3 times as long as it should. This seems to stack everything up throughout the day and by the end of the day we are scrambling to get things done. Sometimes it gets done. Sometimes not. When I don't get things done it bothers me and I tend to stress about it. Most times is just stacks up until I get there tomorrow and just makes the next day slip even farther behind. We have a couple of PRN evening people filling in this week and they don't know or frequently forget to do some of the items left behind. This makes for a frustrated Ramblin and not a fun working environment.

Mother Nature's Alarm Clock

This morning Needles and I was going to sleep late. I mean get out of bed around noon late and that didn't happen. Last night it was a little stuffy in the bedroom so I opened the window. With the cool air I slept great up until this morning. As you know it is the time of year when birds are getting busy and making baby birds. Apparently a fledgling robin decided to set up shop in the tree in the front yard and squawked to it parents for food. Maybe it is supposed to be this way but any other birds chirping this morning sounded nice and melodic but this chick chirp sounded to me like nails on a chalk board. I tried to stay in bed and ignore it for several minutes hoping the chick would move on but after 20minutes the short shrill chirps started to pierced my brain like a clothes hanger crammed in my ear. I went outside which must have unnerved the bird and it flew off. If I could have gotten my hands on that bird earlier it wouldn't be happy but now that I am up, thanks to mother nature's alarm clock, I guess I will make some coffee.

Batchin it.

Needles left Thursday for her spinning retreat. The last couple of days at work hasn't been too bad but we will have to see what next week has in store for us. I have been occupying my time with TIVO programs that has been stacking up since Mom and Dad has been visiting. Tomorrow NetFliks is sending us the Da Vinci Code. Tomorrow Needles will get back and we can relax and enjoy our weekend. Not much on the agenda for the weekend but since we have had stuff to do the last several weekend, a weekend of setting at home and sipping coffee sounds nice.

The last day.

This is the last day of my very short vacation. I am glad I had to the time off and that I could spend it with my parents. I hope the next couple of days goes quick and the weekend will be here. I haven't even started work yet this week and am already anticipating the weekend. Next week my boss will be gone all week so it will be a stressful one.

It's Offical!

Needlefingers has won Sock Madness 2007!
Congrats Needles. I didn't have a doubt in my mind.

I got all my jobs done today and I am worn out. Tomorrow we are heading down to Needles Moms for Mother's Day and my Mom and Dad should be here about the time we get home. We have accomplished a lot so far this weekend. Hopefully now we can rest for awhile.
This is my 400th post.

SOCK MADNESS 2007 is DONE!

Needle posted her finished socks at 6:50am our time this morning. She was the first to post so she has unofficially won the competition. I however pooped out at about 3:30am this morning. I was beat. After being on my feet all day at work and then coming home and working on Mom and Dads basement drain until dark I was the walking dead. I did get up at 6:45 just in time to see Needles finish the socks and post them to Flickr. Since I was able to get several hours of sleep I am now wide awake but Needles is still snoozing and will be for some time I expect.

Mom and Dad are coming up tomorrow so we will be out visiting and helping them with projects over the next few days off. Today there is a lot on the agenda. Mow my lawn, Mow Mom and Dad's lawn. Work some more on the drain and go shopping. A lot to accomplish when you sleep until 11am.

Have a great weekend!

TIME OFF!

I am off for an extended weekend. I have taken Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off. I am going to enjoy the time away from work. I do hope that my co workers are able to get along smoothly without me. I have no doubt that can get along OK but the smoothly part maybe difficult. The last couple of days have been doozys.

Tonight is the final pattern of Sock Madness 2007. Tonight is going to be a late night as I have been staying up with Needles in support. I just hope this one goes quick for her. This staying up all night is rough.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Could have been a NICE ONE.

We have had a nice weekend. The weather has been wonderful and we have gotten things accomplished and had some fun too. Friday night Needles was in the heat of knitting competition but Saturday after we got some rest we were able to get some things done. Saturday morning I mowed and after I came inside and got my shower we were off to the big city for grocery shopping that was long over due. Shortly after we returned home an put away our purchases it was time to load up for the movies. We decided last week that we were going to go to the Drive In movie theatre. They were playing Spidey 3 and Ghost Rider. We arrived about 45 minutes before the start. The place was already beginning to get packed. Rudy, Brando and the crew also joined us as we unfolded our lawn cars and set in for the entertainment. About half way into the first movie the wind started to pick up and there was a steady breeze that had nip to it. I decided to climb into the truck and Needles followed. Unfortunately Rudy and the gang couldn't all set in the van and watch the movie so they got a bit chilled as the night progressed. After the first movie was over they left and we were there to watch the 2nd feature. I really enjoyed Spidey 3 and can't wait for it to come out on DVD so that I can purchase it a watch again but as for Ghost Rider it was O.K. I would have to say of all of the Comic based movies I would have to rank this one just above Electra and Dare Devil. Dare Devil was last. The story was good the villains were cheesy and the special effect drove me nuts. Ghost riders flaming skull gave me the impression of a skull in a fish bowl. I think they should have gave the flames less transparency so that you couldn't see the full skull at all times. In some scenes his head/skull looked too big for his body. The pentance stare seemed to be GRs one and only "power" and the effects just made it look cheesy. This movie had alot and I mean a butt load of potential. To bad the producer and director fell short delivering on it. Of the comic related movies I have seen the ranking would go something like this.

  1. X Men 1
  2. Spiderman 1
  3. Blade 1
  4. Xmen 2
  5. Spiderman 2
  6. Fantastic Four
  7. Blade 2
  8. Spiderman 3
  9. Hell Boy
  10. The Punisher
  11. Alien Vs. Predator
  12. X Men 3
  13. Blade 3
  14. The Hulk
  15. Ghost Rider
  16. Electra
  17. Dare Devil

Not included in this list was Conan and Red Sonya which were also based on comic book starts.

Tonight we are going to fire up the projecter and watch Jame Bond Casino Royal in the comfort of our bed. I love you Net Flicks. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Round 6 done.

Needles finished her pair of sock at around 5:45 am this morning. She was the first of the final four to post to flikr. She finished before Yarniac (Victoriamvs1999) putting her out of the competition. We then went to bed and I just got up around 11am to see how the competition is going. Looks like no one else is done yet but I feel there will be a finished posting within the next 4 hours or so. The final match will then be locked.

I think after last night Needles said that she wasn't going to do Sock Madness 2008. We will see, a lot can change in a year.

Update Part 2.

Needles is about 10 rows from finishing her second sock. It is 5:10 am and the birds are starting to chirp outside. We are hoping that she will to be done by 5:30ish am but we will see. The bed is screaming for both of us. I am watching Dungeons ad Dragons the cartoon. I noticed they have changed the opening music. Eyes are blurry and starting to get a headache from lack of sleep, I can't imagine how Needles is holding up. Have a good day.

Update.

It is 3:25 am and Needles is still knitting away. She finished her first Sock around midnight and posted it to Flikr. She is currently on the second sock and is about to do the heel. Hopefully we will be able to go to bed around 5 am ish. The socks are turning out very neat, I am sure Needles will post a few pictures later when there is good lighting. Good night everyone.

Weekend I am ready for you.

This week it has been somewhat hectic. It is now Friday evening and I am relaxing at home. Needles and I have had our Trace Inn supper and Needles now having received the latest sock madness pattern has set in on her knitting. She seems to be half way to the foot on her first toe up sock. It looks like it might be another late night.

Tomorrow we are planning on sleeping late and not doing much but later tomorrow night we have plans to go to the drive in theater and see a comic book double header. Spiderman 3 and Ghost Rider. Sunday we will be heading south to visit Needlefingers mother to celebrate her B'day. Weekend may you last forever...
