Weekend Bday Party

This weekend we had a birthday party for a co worker and friend, let's call her "Peaches". Peaches is the ripe old age of 26 so we had a cookout and some drinks and a few firecrackers to give the evening some excitement. Good times...
Enjoying the evening in the glow of the fire.(Identities obscured to protect the guilty.)
Peaches is the one on the right.

Weekend Visitors

This weekend Cynical and Ragged traveled North to visit with us for the weekend. They rolled in around 7:30pm on Friday and since Needles was beat from work and I was just plain lazy, We drove to the Trace Inn for supper. Needles, Cynical and Ragged had the sirloin and I had the catfish. When we were leaving and driving through town the car made a sudden swerve into Dairy Dee and we enjoyed dessert. When we got home Rudy, Brando and the Funky Bunch rolled in for a quick visit before the kids had to go to bed. Before long it was time to hit the sack ourselves. The next morning we had a light breakfast of bagels and cream cheese. We had plans to meet up with Rudy and Brando at Ophelia's Cup for lunch. It was very good and after visiting and relaxing for a bit, it was time to head home. That evening we were graced with a visit from Jenny from the Blog and I whipped up some strawberry margaritas while we waited for supper that Needles was crafting. Supper was turkey beacon, tomato and spinach sandwiches with garden fresh green beans Ala Needles. For dessert seedless watermelon on the back patio. We sat and talked until we had trouble seeing each other as night had closed in around us without us noticing. We went to the living room to enjoy a late night movie. We stayed up late and hated for Jenny to leave as it meant it was getting close to bedtime. Sunday morning came all too soon even after sleeping in an hour more than the morning before. We had scrambled eggs and toast with mini iced cinnamon rolls for breakfast and before we knew it Cynical and Ragged was packing up for their return trip home. I think they had things needing to get done waiting for them at home and unfortunately I had things I had put off and needed to do myself. The rest of my Sunday consisted of mowing at Mom and Dad's place. Mowing my lawn and spraying the drive way. Later that night Needles and I watched our Netflixs movie Push. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give it a 3. Don't know that I can recommend it and don't think I wouldn't want to watch it again. After the movie I had my usual weekend ritual of Sunday night laundry of work clothes. We had a great weekend with great company. We just wish it could have lasted a couple of more days. We will have to do it again very soon.

PS. The rainbow above showed up just before our guest arrived. Also the grean beans were really good Saturday, better Sunday and magnificent Monday. The flavors really opened up.

Stealth Cam Test.

Here is a few pictures from the trail camera. It took 90 pictures with ripping off another 6 when I arrived to open the camera. Of the 96 total pictures there was 21 with deer on them. I am sure there were more deer in the sensor area that the camera over shot. I think my camera placement was a little high. I reset the camera for video mode and will now leave it for a month. We will see what we get. If you want to see the video I made about it please visit this link.

Curious maybe.
Baby deer bottom right. I got another picture of him but it was blurry...I think he was jumping around and having fun. This was the first picture on the camera.

This Mornings Adventure.

Stopped in at the viewing station to watch some seagull acrobats.
If you look closely there is a fish in his mouth.
Red tail Hawk

Red tail Hawk again

Purple flowers for Needles.

I call this one, flower on a fence.
I don't know where I get it. It's a skill I guess.

Snowy Egret

PS. Tugger is still hissing at his bathed brother after almost 3 days. I think he doesn't like Copper anymore because he isn't covered in kitty spit. He smells different.....Clean instead of greasy.

Looking at the sky.

For the last 2 nights Needles and I have found ourselves laying out under the stars. The Perseid meteor showers have had us with a blanket and pillows laying out on the concrete patio looking toward the heavens in the chance we might spy a shooting star.....or several. Last night we were out there for about 35 minutes and maybe spied a couple of meteors. It was a nice night to be outside but the dampness could be felt after just a few minutes and warmth of the concrete could be felt on our backs through the blanket. Tonight was much more fruitful. I was amazed when we returned inside to find we had been out there for almost an hour. While we were out there we did get to see several meteors. We also spotted several planes and a satellite. It was nice to relax under the stars with Needles. Goodnight All.
PS. Not my picture.

Weekend update...

I did end up mowing not one but both lawns and finishing up my laundry for work tomorrow. Today was a very productive day indeed. Oh and I forgot to mention that Needles and I straightened up the computer/yarn room in the house. I almost forgot the carpet on the floor was white. Yeah it was that bad. We managed to sack up 2 trash bags full of stuff to go to the dump and several boxes that we have been hanging on to for god knows why. Needles also purchased another shelf to put in the room for storage. I guess that is it for now. Good night.

Weekend goings on.

Friday after work I visited my friend "D's" house. He had a movie that I wanted to watch. We started the movie and attentively watched as the movie started and in short order we found out that the audio was about a second or two fast. It was disorienting to try to watch a movie like that but we persisted. We watched about 3/4 of the movie when I got a phone call from another friend "G" that was broke down in his truck. The issue was that he had people there with a flatbed trailer but when driving the truck upon the trailer he ran a front wheel off the side and was stuck half on half off the trailer. He needed a floor jack to get the truck back on the trailer. By the time I drove home and drove back to where they were they had pretty much got it back on. We secured the truck and headed to his home. I got home around 7:30pm and Needles wanted to watch a movie we got from Netflixs. A Haunting in Connecticut is arguably based on a true event. We had watched a show about this haunting a few years back on TV. We remembered some details about the episode but more came to mind as the movie unfolded. The movie at first was very creepy and entertaining but toward the middle it got cheesy and toward the end the train came off the tracks. I would prefer a movie to keep scary things hidden and let the audiences mind do the work but when they openly show what supposed to be creepy and scary the effect quickly looses its effectiveness. I would give the movie a 3 out of 5 stars. I wouldn't watch it again or if I did maybe just the first 45 minutes to an hour. Saturday I awoke and headed out to the neighborhood yard sales while Needles had the fun task of grocery shopping. When she got home I returned home to help her put things away. We had a late breakfast and then went to the local produce stand for corn, tomatoes, zucchini and a watermelon. After we got home and settled in I suggested a run to the Dairy Dee. Needles got a Oreo tundra and I a brownie Dee-lite. Yummmmmm. Last night we went to Rudy and Brando's to catch up on the last 3 True Blood that we had missed. We arrived home after 11:30pm and Needles and I went outside to look at the moon and mars, hence the pictures on my previous post. Today we got up late since we went to bed late. We had breakfast and now I stripped down the bedding to be put in the wash and put the pillows out to bake in the 90 degree heat outside. I has been a somewhat productive weekend even with the dreadful heat outside. I would have liked to mow the yards but I think that will have to wait until more subtle temps. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Pictures.

It was an overcast day and a little hazy. Not the best for picture taking.
